Workshops as part of the REDD+ strategy
Cooperating with local communities in Guatemala
Forest Finest Consulting cooperates with various partners to support the consolidation of the National REDD+ Strategy in Guatemala. Key stakeholders such as local communities play a very important role in this project. Capacity building and local participation for and with these actors are important components to ensure long-term sustainability for effective REDD+ implementation.
For this reason, in the framework of the REDD+ strategy in Guatemala several workshops are regularly organized with experts, local stakeholders and community members in departments of Quetzaltenango, Chiquimula and Alta Verapaz.
Methodology
The goal of such workshops is to foster knowledge transfer but also to acquire multilateral dialogue. The two most important outcomes are engaged stakeholders on all levels of the project and the integration of different perspectives into the project. The dynamics implemented have all the following aspect in common:
- Knowledge transfer
- Team groups facilitation
- Team expositions
The workshops have successfully become a platform that facilitates dialogue and knowledge transfer. Thanks to the workshops a better understanding of the national policies has been created and the perspectives of the local communities are being integrated into a new proposal.
