Contamination and Chocolate Quality

Dr. Silke Elwers, Senior Agroforestry and Cocoa Expert of ForestFinest Consulting, was featured in an article about cadmium contamination of cocoa beans produced in Peru. The level of cadmium was found higher than a new EU regulation allows which will enter force in 2019.Contamination in cocoa beans on-site and throughout the value chain, and therefore the question how to avoid it, is a serious issue in the cocoa and chocolate industry.
