The Senate is a private nonprofit organization. They are oriented towards common good, and refraining from traditional lobbying for particular interests. An issue is the art of achieving economic objectives sustainably, minimizing input of material resources and maximizing the application of creative human potential. In 2016 Dirk Walterspacher, CEO of ForestFinest Consulting GmbH was nominated as member of the Senat.

The World Forest Foundation is an initiative of the German Senat der Wirtschaft and a platform oriented towards the common good, which firstly brings together all the relevant parties from politics, society and business in order to promote socially, economically and ecologically sustainable reforestation. It is promoting investments of German companies into global climate protection and contributes towards solving climate problems in the long term and securing general prosperity with specific reforestation projects according to the principle “close to nature, forest, restoration”.

EMA is a German-Arab association that focuses on economic development cooperation. EMA uses its vast network of contacts to create an exchange between the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Europe, especially Germany that furthers development and is beneficial for all.They forum in sectors such as water, the environment, renewable energies, logistics and investment, as well as the country-specific economic forums offer ample space for discussion, networking, and the exchange of knowledge. ForestFinest Consulting is a member of EMA since 2016.

The AHKs are institutions of German foreign trade promotion. Since 2017 ForestFinest Consulting is a member of AHK Dominican Republic to support, strengthen and expand the network and business activities in the Domonican Republic.

The services delivered by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) draw on a wealth of regional and technical expertise and tried and tested management know-how. As a federal enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

ForestFinest Consulting has been cooperating with GIZ not only in the exchange of expertise on agroforestry and forest projects but also in the implementation of two Public Private Partnership projects for a client. The projects were co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the framework of the develoPPP-programme conducted by GIZ.

CATIES’s mission is to increase sustainable and inclusive human well-being in Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting education, research and innovation for development, sustainable management of agriculture and conservation of natural resources.

terrestris is specialized in geospatial solutions based on Open Source Software. ForestFinest Consulting cooperates with terrestris in the area of geodata management and the implementation of online map applications.

In addition to the reduction of greenhouse gases and promoting sustainable development in the project region, the participation of local population in the decision making process is ensured. We are a full member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Germany and an active member of the economic committee of the non-profit organization since 2015. The FSC represents not only a standard for sustainable forest management but is also an important networking platform for all stakeholders interested in forestry: forest owners, consumers, politicians and the industry.

Due to the proximity of a main cocoa import harbour, there is a long tradition of research on cocoa and other tropical crops at the University of Hamburg. Among others, the Biocenter Klein Flottbek harbors research sections dedicated to cocoa agroforestry, quality, propagation and postharvest microbiology. Recent international research results are presented frequently at a conference called “Runder Tisch Kakao”. ForestFinest Consulting has a close cooperation with the corresponding research groups in favor of the optimization of cocoa quality and productivity.

The Institute of Silviculture of Technische Universität München (TUM) was involved as academic partner in the Public-Private-Partnership Project on the afforestation of arid areas in Egypt. The project is a development partnership with Forest Finance Service GmbH and part of the develoPPP.de program, that GIZ implements on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) is driven by the need for innovative solutions to sustainably manage our planet‘s natural resources. ITT offers applied and demand-driven knowledge transfer through master programs, a doctoral program and capacity development, often in cooperation with international partners worldwide, in order to enable future agents of change. The programs compliment applied and stakeholder demand-driven research in the extensive field of natural resources management. The ITT is an independent institute of the TH Köln (University of Applied Sciences), Germany; and started its master programs and research activities in 1978.


„Green, innovative and practically relevant“ – this is the motto since the foundation of the University of Applied Science in Weihenstephan-Triesdorf in 1971. The faculties are clearly green and focus on future development: Bio-technology, horticulture and food technology, environmental engineering and forestry. Our Consultants from the Land Use Department supported students from the University in different projects.

The German Cocoa Trade Association was established in 1911 with the objective of safeguarding and promoting the common economic, political and traditional interests of its members in the cocoa trade. Its members are cocoa trading companies and brokers as well as warehouse keepers and further firms involved in the cocoa trade.

As part of its sustainability strategy, the Federal State Government of Hesse has set the goal of climate neutral operations by 2030. The team at CO2OL’s Frankfurt Office is supporting the project with their expertise and services.



The MoorFutures are a project of the federal state ministry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, restoring peatlands and their original ability to store CO2. CO2OL offers companies access to Moor Futures project, especially if a focus is on the ability to offset carbon emissions completely or partly in Germany.

Viabono is the umbrella brand for environmental tourism, offering touristic solutions and quality deals in Germany.
Together with CO2OL Viabono has developed a carbon accounting solution for hotels and other tourism businesses. They also support partners on the road to climate neutral overnight stays and business operations. The “climate-hotels” have been working completely climate neutral for many years.

The IBWF Institute is the multidisciplinary network of qualified consultants for the SME sector. Julian Ekelhof of CO2OL is a certified member and thus demonstrated the special qualification to advise Mittelstand companies on topics such as sustainability and climate protection. Furthermore, we access the network’s expertise for many related topics.



EUROPARC Deutschland e.V. is the umbrella organization of national parks, biosphere reserves and nature parks in Germany. CO2OL is a cooperation partner of EUROPARC, especially in the context of business cooperation.


The purpose of the Alliance is to offer a platform for organizations to voluntarily invest in carbon offsetting projects in developing countries. For example, by financing wind and solar, biogas plants, energy or reforestation projects. Climate projects avoid further CO2 emissions or capture them. Additionally, these projects endorse local sustainable development.

The Alliance encourages the voluntary carbon market. It works towards the development of a policy for voluntary carbon offsetting and it facilitates the relationship between companies, project developers and offsetting specialists.
